Dipertocarp Series
The Dipterocarp Series of drawings was created during an artist residency in Malaysia. During this time Jennifer traveled to the jungles in the Malaysian Peninsula and Borneo and spent time learning about the endemic Dipterocarp forests of South East Asia. The name dipterocarp refers to the greek words 'di' meaning 2, 'pteron' meaning winged and 'karpos' meaning fruit. When the fruit drops from the tree the winged structure allows it to spin away from its parent, enabling a better opportunity to germinate. During the residency Jennifer collected many types of these dipterocarp fruits through friends associated with FRIM and the Singapore Botanic Garden.
